The Parish Council has, once again, entered the Community Pride Best Kept Village Competition run by Cheshire Community Action. We won the category of Best Kept Large Village in Cheshire with a population of 5001 – 10,000 in 2016 (the competition didn’t take place in 2017) and we are hoping to be successful again in 2018.
The support of local residents, community groups and businesses is vital to demonstrate that the area is cared for by the community and to show that residents take great pride in their surroundings. It is not just about finding the most beautiful, historic or picturesque village but is more about community spirit and the level of care of the environment.
Please take a look at your immediate area to see what can be done to make it look as smart and well kept as possible. If there are any areas outside your responsibility that you feel need attention please contact us and let us know. We would welcome any ideas for improvement. If you can spare any time to assist our Parish Warden cleaning up any local ‘grot spots’ just let us know.
A panel of anonymous judges will visit Grappenhall and Thelwall and preliminary judging will take place from mid-April to mid-July, intermediate judging at the end of July-August, followed by final judging in early September. There is also a ‘Little Gem Award’ for any particular area or item which the judges feel needs extra recognition.
