The Parish Council is delighted to announce that 2 WREN grants have been awarded for the refurbishment of the Play Areas at Diamond Park on Barley Road in Thelwall and Jubilee Park on Euclid Avenue in Grappenhall. The £92,841.00 cash boost has been given by WREN, a not for profit business that awards grants to local community projects from funds donated by FCC Environment to the Landfill Communities Fund.
The grant will be used to replace the old play equipment and provide new play surfaces and benches which will result in a much more modern looking, vibrant and visually appealing facility offering new play opportunities. Work has already started on Diamond Park and completion is expected to take 2 – 3 weeks. Work will begin on Jubilee Park as soon as Diamond Park is finished.
Residents had been calling for improvements following the removal of a number of old pieces of equipment which were in poor condition and were no longer safe for use.
See the Local Play Areas section of the Parish Council website for visuals of how the completed play areas will look.
