NOTICE OF CASUAL VACANCIES
LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1972 (AS AMENDED)
SECTION 87 (2)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that two casual vacancies have deemed to have occurred in the office of Councillor for Grappenhall and Thelwall Parish Council following the resignations of Andrew Bennett and Paul Wenlock.

Rule 8(1) of The Local Elections (Parishes and Communities) (Amendment) Rules, 1986, provides that on a casual vacancy occurring in the office of councillor of a parish, an election to fill the vacancies shall be held if, within fourteen days1 after public notice of the vacancy has been given in accordance with Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act, 1972, notice in writing of a request for such an election has been given to the proper officer of the council of the borough within which the parish is situate by TEN electors for each of the electoral areas(2).
The Proper Officer is the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Sankey Street, Warrington, WA1 1UH.
If an Election is not requested, the Parish Council shall fill the vacancies by co-option.

1. In computing any period of time for the purposes of this notice a Saturday, Sunday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a Bank Holiday or day appointed for public thanksgiving or mourning, shall be disregarded.
2. If an election is triggered by 10 electors, paragraph 6(2) of the 2020 Regulations applies and a poll to fill the casual vacancy does not take place. Instead the vacancy is filled at the ordinary election on 6 May 2021.
